Here at We Care we strive to help as many people as possible, regardless of their background, lifestyle or disadvantage. While we can’t do everything, we remain committed to doing something to make a difference in our local communities. We have a number of different programs aimed at assisting everyone – from children to teenagers and single adults to families. Together, we can make a difference.
We Care for children
We Care runs a weekly Playgroup which offers a safe and engaging environment for children to develop their skills as well as interact with others from the local community. Subsequently, it is an environment where parents and guardians are able to build their social connection and integration within the community. Mondays – Wednesdays, 9:30am – 11:30am. Requirements: $2 per child and a piece of fruit.
We Care for teenagers
We Care runs weekly mentoring and positive lifestyle programs in a number of high schools that assist students in dealing with anger, depression and other developmental issues. This is a great opportunity to help fringe students to reengage with school (and thus to stay in school) as well as helping them expand their social skills to better integrate into society.
We Care for adults & families
We Care provides assistance to those facing hardship, either as singles, couples or families. Our vision is to help all people, including refugees, asylum seekers, long time locals, or those who have recently settled into the area. We Care aims to support those in need to the best of its ability. This is done primarily through the following programs:
Helping Hand Centres
We Care has a Helping Hand Centre located in the City of Greater Dandenong – Dandenong North. The Centre provides food parcels, items of clothing, blankets, toiletries, school supplies, baby supplies, and much more, free of charge, to families in need on a regular basis. On average, we assist 11,000 people each year. Open Mondays & Fridays, 10:30am – 2:00pm.
